Republican Party Chair Speaks to Lancaster Students on the U.S. Constitution
Joan Blackstone, chairman of the Lancaster County Republican Party, spent the day with students at Lancaster High School distributing booklets of the U S. Constitution to students in American Government classes, May 27.
First District Congressman Rob Wittman donated the booklets to provide each student with information about the document underlying the foundation of the United States Government.
Blackstone made a brief presentation in each of Mr. Alex Stickler’s four Senior American Government Classes.
“Today it is so important for our children to understand the historic documents that are the basis for our unique form of government,” Mrs. Blackstone said.
“We encouraged the students in the government classes to discuss particular issues such as free speech and homeland security as they related to the Constitution.
“We are grateful and appreciative to Congressman Rob Wittman for donating these booklets, to the high school and to the Government teacher, Mr. Stickler, for inviting us into the classroom. We hope that these graduating seniors will refer often to the words in this most valuable document as they take on the responsibilities of citizenship.” (Download the whole article.)
